The hashtag # popular since Twitter launched in 2006 has spread to other social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn and now almost entirely across the internet to help users and search engines index topically based on relevant keywords. Strategic hash tagging alone can’t make you a best seller but is one ingredient in your arsenal for sure. Just like doing one bench press cannot make you an Olympic Gold medalist it can be one step on the road to get you there and most likely won’t happen without a tens of thousands of them.
